Five-Star Reviews and Awards

NewSealAR4J2

A Rose For Jonathan has received more five-star reviews and is the winner of the New Apple Award for Excellence in Independent Publishing for the Spirituality/Religion category.

The latest five-star comments:

“What a wonderful surprise!! The book was about how organ donations can be a blessing, but the author used a backdrop of spiritual warfare to bring the story to life! What an awesome way to tell the story! This is a must-read!”

I hope you will take the time to check it out and sample a few chapters. It’s free on Kindle Unlimited! The sequel is on the way soon and the title will be revealed soon.

I receive a lot of questions about the book, so I’ve decided to post one here with the answer. This is probably my most asked question:

Where did you get the idea for this book?

This book was born from my work as a pediatric physical therapist and working with children who have received organ donations. I began the story and wanted to make it more about the power of prayer around us and decided to give a visual explanation of how important this spiritual weapon is for us as Christians.  My two inspirations for this book were two precious children that I was blessed to help recover. I thank God every day for such an amazing job and now the added blessing of being able to be His vessel to tell more about Him.

Why Pray At All?

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Prayer. It reminds us to be humble before an Almighty Creator that loves us and wants us to come to Him for everything. It’s simple, really. We pray and we talk to God.

Then why is it so hard to fit into our schedules?

The Bible also says in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16 to “pray without ceasing”

and in Mark 11:24

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

We know it’s important and we know we should do it; but do we really believe in it?

NewSealAR4J2

I wrote this book to give you a visual of the power of prayer. It is important to me that everyone can see what power they have available simply by asking. I am humbled that it has won awards and has been well received, but I wrote it for me…and for you…so that we can see what God wants us to know:

Prayer Is Powerful.

Please take some time to at least read the first chapter and see what you think.

It’s available on Kindle Unlimited for free and on Amazon and all other distributors in both print and e-book form: HERE.

Love the Super Bowl

michelangelo-71282_1280

John 13:34

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

The Super Bowl. It’s a culmination of so much time and preparation. The teams train all year and work through injuries and long days of workouts to get to each game. The games tick away until the playoffs, when every week, two teams are eliminated until only two remains. There are millions of others that are involved in the game from other angles. Everything from the advertising executives that pen the famous commercials to the hot dog vendors that prep and sell the food.

I love football. Not everyone does and that’s okay. What struck me as I watched the game was this: fifty years of this championship game have passed and I realized that it was begun the year that I was born. Over the last fifty years, this game has become the most anticipated and celebrated sports event of the year–at least around my family and friends. Whatever you might think of the game, you must agree that the money surrounding this event is mind-boggling. The thirty-second commercial spots were around 5 million each this year.

I wish that a small portion of that could have been allocated to charity. There are so many places to donate…places that desperately need help. I have donated to several of these places and continue to do so through my book sales. Please consider giving something…anything…to a notable charity that you believe in. Some of the ones that I have given to are:

St Judes Children’s Research Hospital

St. Baldricks Foundation

Angelman Syndrome Foundation

And many other smaller individuals and organizations. The verse from John tells us to ‘Love one another but to do so ‘as I have loved you…’  God clearly commands us to Love. There are many ways to do this, but one simple way is to support someone or something that is doing what maybe you cannot. I cannot cure cancer or Angelman Syndrome, but I can donate to someone who can. These organizations provide so much more than just the research. I won’t go into it all here, please click the links above to explore for yourself.

Love one another

Support one another

And do so as God has loved you.

Why Do The Right Thing?

People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

― Mother Teresa

Where Is God?

Ever have one of those days?

he delivers them from all their troubles.
