Spiritual warfare, prayer, and organ donations

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I am rejoicing, I am thankful, and I am praying

I rejoice because the book is now available. Months of work are now completed as I present to you A Rose For Jonathan available HERE

I am thankful for all the support and help along the way.

I am praying that this book blesses you in some way.  I have been revived in my own life just from writing it and I hope that it touches you in some way as well.

This book was written in response to my work with children with transplants due to cancer. These kids have touched my heart in more ways than I can explain and it has been a blessing in my life to help them. Through these interactions as their therapist, I began to understand the need for more organ donations and the impact that this has on a family both of the donor and the family that receives the donation. I could not write a book solely focused on this, although I tried. I prayed about it and felt that I needed to pursue a slightly different twist on it all, and so this book was born. I hope you check it out and let me know what you think.

Thank you for visiting!

New Book on Spiritual Warfare

Pre-order the new release of the ebook A Rose For Jonathan HERE   The official release date is April 15, 2015 for the ebook and June (TBA) for the print version.

The story follows the lives of several families devastated by events in their lives and how God is able to help them all mend and find peace. Pastor John Miles must lead his church and his own family as he finds himself in the middle of a spiritual battle, while trying to understand a unique gift God has mysteriously given him. The story weaves through several types of battles that Christians face, such as questioning God in the face of tragedy, and guides the reader to find the two very important weapons that we have been given to face our enemy in this world: prayer and scripture.

Angels and Demons and so much more!

Do you believe in angels? How about demons? Did you know that demons are just angels that turned on God?

So much to think about! The Bible is clear on the presence of angels and demons in the world around us. The book of Ephesians says:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:12

My new book will bring into focus the spiritual world around us while weaving together a fictional story about a preacher and his family, who will be made more aware of these spiritual beings than they ever thought possible. Keep watching for the release of

A Rose for Jonathan, available soon!

New Book: A Rose for Jonathan

The new book is coming along well. I am going through the long process of edits and working with a designer for the cover. I have had several radio interviews about my work, including the first novel, The Club.

The new novel, A Rose for Jonathan is from the Christian genre. I hope that you all will stay tuned for more information about this upcoming release!

Loving a victim of crime

If you have ever known someone who suffered at the hands of another, it is incredibly difficult to understand. Maybe you are the one who was the victim. Your scars will no doubt be carried with you forever. There are no words of wisdom or comfort that can get you through the initial shock and pain; but you can get through it. Studying the stages of grief, it is easy to trace back through time how you may have dealt with it all; but in the moment, it is just shear pain and helplessness.

“Revenge is a sweet seductress that ensnares even the most scrupulous of souls”

That is a quote from my latest novel, The Club. A series of events leads some otherwise normal people to do many abnormal things. When you weave through the story, I hope you find that the characters are more than just bitter and hopeless. My objective was to entertain a broad idea; but I found myself involved in the story more than I meant to be. Having witnessed pain up close, I know what an unpunished crime can do to a family firsthand and tried to preserve some of the emotions that I observed without the story becoming too dark.

My wish is that you enjoy the tale and take it for what it is: a work of fiction. I would never condone any act of retribution; and I hope that through the characters you find how many different types of people react when challenged.

Overcoming and persevering, while both nobel and appealing, are not possible without allowing yourself to mourn. Very few who seek revenge find it to give everlasting relief. True peace will be something that will take time and something else that you may have trouble accepting: forgiveness.

Enjoy!

New donations and Angelman Syndrome

Hello all!

I promised an announcement about my new donations, so here it is!

First, I want to share that the new novel is clicking along. The final pages have been put in place and now the long process of clean up begins! I hope you all have had a chance to read through the first chapter I posted last week. It may change a little, as editing goes!

I do have an announcement to make for the upcoming months. I have donated to a variety of causes and individuals over the last year and will continue to donate the proceeds from my books; but I am now going to have to set a percentage to this. So far, I have donated everything; but I cannot continue to do so for a variety of reasons.

I have a four incredible children and they all need college help, so some of the proceeds will have to go that direction. One in particular has a fairly serious visual problem that may require extra funds, so I will be reserving money for that purpose as well. I am hoping her vision does not continue to deteriorate; but we have to make choices to help her now. Another cause that is extremely close to me has surfaced; and I cannot help but focus on this as well. Last fall, my great nephew was diagnosed with a genetic disorder known as Angelman Syndrome.  Click HERE for more information about this disorder. I will hopefully be able to grow my book sales enough to donate to the research foundation for this disease; but initially, I am going to collect funds to send to the family directly, as their medical expenses continue to mount.

So, for the time being, I will be donating to my own daughter’s needs as well as my precious great nephew. By purchasing any of my novels, you will be directly helping two very special people in my life. I will post updates about the donations periodically; but I am trying to respect their privacy too.

Please enjoy my latest novel, The Club (available in both ebook and print and at all major retailers) and keep watching for the release of A Rose for Jonathan that will hopefully be available this spring.

Happy 2015! Best wishes to you all!

Ferguson, Ebola, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas…

So much is going on! It’s hard to turn on a TV without being bombarded by news stories about so many huge events, so get ready with your dresses like these tight black prom dresses online. Well, I say turn off the news and grab a book!

Or a puzzle…or maybe go for a walk!

I don’t know about you, but this time of year can get to me anyway with all of the sales, commercials, extra mail circulars, and overwhelming decorations at every turn. I sometimes just turn off my radio/iPod/TV/whatever-you-listen-to in the car and at home. Silence has become a relic that I love to pull out and enjoy. When was the last time you heard nothing?

About a year ago, my husband and I took a short hiking trip. On one of the trails, we ended out on a large bluff that was significantly far away from any worldly noise. We sat out on the bluff and “listened” to silence. It was truly deafening and we LOVED it. I cannot express to you the peace and overwhelming calm that enveloped us for days afterward just from allowing our minds to reboot and our souls to soar.

Give yourself a gift this year…turn it all off–just for five minutes and see what it is like. You might find that your new “playlist” will be empty more often.  Silence has been described as many things, but I describe it as intoxicating.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort

Well, so many of you have emailed me questions about Sandestin. Yes, it is a real place and I have been there many times. For those of you who have not been there, it is worth the trip. Not only can you enjoy the famous sugar coastline of Florida; but you also get to experience a beautiful resort with a large list of amenities to suit anyone. For those of you who have read The Club, you know that Jack ends up there. For those of you who have not read the book, The Club. Click HERE to download and read the novel.

All of the characters in the book are fictional and are not meant to represent anyone in particular. I did incorporate facts from time to time, such as the development of Kiawah Island and the invention of the iPhone. The description of Charlottesville, Virginia, and the outdoor mall, as well as the hiking trail, are all accurate, as I used to live there. Both Charleston and Charlottesville are towns you should visit if you have never done so.

The new novel… is coming along and I don’t want to spoil it. I hope to post the first chapter soon. Follow me on Twitter @TheGreenAuthor for instant updates.
